muddy but happy cyclist stands by her bike at the end of a gravel race

CHRISTINA WIEJAK

Reilly’s latest Ambassador is no stranger to racing,
Christina Wiejak is a hugely talented cyclist who has been winning races across the disciplines for many years including 4th place at Elite National Cyclo Cross Champs in 2022.

Reilly first met Christina after her impressive win on the sand at Battle on the Beach 2024 and promptly lent her a Gradient for her next gravel challenge, The Gralloch.  2024 UCI Gravel World Championships qualifier was in May 2024 and Christina finished in the Top 20 nestled between the World Class gravel pro athletes.

“The Gradient was flawless” she said “the improved confidence on the rough stuff was stark! Nice to be on a UK brand in a world class field.”
Next up, she took her Gradient to Lauf Gritfest -in June
2024 where she came in 1st on both the Prologue and Day 1 and 2nd on Day 2.

“Yet again, the Gradient was flawless” she said but I suspect her talent and determination also played a part!

Even when she isn’t racing, Christina can be found challenging herself on the bike.  She recently tried her hand at the Fastest Known Time on South Downs Way in a Day.  She completed the 160km ride from Winchester to Eastbourne in 8 hours 59 minutes. 8:43 of pedalling time, and 16 minutes of opening and closing gates and filling up water bottles!

Future plans on her Reilly Gradient include:
Gravel Wales (Ruthin) UCI Gravel World Series - 22
September 2024
  • BRITISH GRAVEL CHAMPIONSHIPS AUGUST 2024

    6th Place Overall

A really enjoyable, hard fought race in a top quality field. I felt great for the first half of the race, and with hindsight probably got a bit excited and did too much work, attempting to push the pace when I should have been saving my matches! My old road race style of ‘on the front or off the back’ seems to have followed me onto the gravel!

Eventually, our lead group of 8 started to splinter as the strongest riders
pulled away. After that, it was a case of riding my own race and squeezing out
every last watt to hold off chasing riders.

Initially I wasn’t sure how I felt about my ride, but on reflection it’s a result that I’m pleased with. Sometimes it’s easy to forget who you’re racing against - it’s probably the only time I’ll be racing side by side with a Paris-Roubaix winner!
